US and China agree to cut tariffs on $30 billion of goods and establish AI dialogue during Xi-Trump summit
During Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Washington in September 2026, the US and China agreed to reduce tariffs on $30 billion worth of non-sensitive goods in each direction. The two sides also established a U.S.-China Super Intelligence (SI) Dialogue, agreed on Chinese imports of at least 10 million metric tons of US coal in 2027 and 2028, and extended their trade truce to January 2027.
