An error in the Texas Department of Public Safety's online system failed to transmit voter registration applications and updates to county election offices for approximately a year, starting in October 2025. County officials are now processing a backlog estimated in the tens of thousands across populous counties, including about 45,000 in Bexar County. The DPS said the system issue has been resolved, and officials say voters who submit registrations by Oct. 5 will be able to vote, with provisional ballots available for those not on the rolls.
