A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Iran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the United States eases military pressure and lifts its blockade on Iranian ports. Iran said it delivered a proposal to the US via mediators on September 16 and that its UN delegation has full authority to revive diplomacy. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will not meet US President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly in New York.
