Trump signs Russia sanctions bill into law
US President Donald Trump signed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 on September 19, 2026. The law imposes sanctions on Russian officials, banks, energy and defense sectors, and a shadow fleet of tankers, and authorizes tariffs of up to 100% on the top buyers of Russian oil and gas. The bill passed Congress with bipartisan support and also extends sanctions on Iran's energy and weapons sectors.
