US weekly jobless claims fall to 196,000 for week ended September 12

The Labor Department reported that initial jobless claims dropped to 196,000 for the week ended September 12, down from 206,000 the prior week. Economists surveyed by FactSet had expected approximately 207,500 claims. The four-week moving average fell to 203,250.
