UK inquiry finds hospital failures allowed Lucy Letby baby murders to continue
A public inquiry led by Lady Justice Kathryn Thirlwall found that the Countess of Chester Hospital had a complete failure at all levels to protect newborns, and that some babies would have been saved if staff had acted sooner. Lucy Letby is serving 15 whole-life sentences for the murders of seven babies and attempted murders of seven more between 2015 and 2016. Letby maintains her innocence, and an international panel of experts has challenged the prosecution evidence, with her defense team submitting an application to the Criminal Cases Review Commission.
