President Donald Trump said on September 13, 2026 that the US should have the world's lowest interest rates, speaking ahead of a Federal Reserve meeting where the central bank is expected to raise rates. The Fed, now chaired by Trump's appointee Kevin Warsh, faces inflation above its 2% target following a hotter-than-expected August CPI report.
