Anthropic released its third threat intelligence report on September 10, 2026, covering misuse of its Claude AI models between December 2025 and August 2026. The report detailed five cases of biological weapons-related research, conventional weapons development by actors in China, Russia, and Yemen, cyber-espionage campaigns, and surveillance operations targeting dissidents. Anthropic said it banned all associated accounts and shared threat information with government and industry partners. The report was published shortly after a researcher resigned from the company over AI safety concerns.
