Sweden held its general election on September 13, 2026, with the centre-left bloc led by Magdalena Andersson's Social Democrats narrowly ahead of the right-wing bloc led by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The far-right Sweden Democrats, who have supported Kristersson's government from outside, sought cabinet positions for the first time. Initial results and exit polls showed the left bloc with a thin majority, though the race was too close to call with some votes still being counted.
