Former volunteer sues Cesar Chavez nonprofits over alleged sexual abuse

A woman identified as Jane Doe filed a lawsuit in Kern County Superior Court against the Cesar Chavez Foundation and the United Farm Workers Foundation, accusing them of failing to investigate complaints about Cesar Chavez's alleged sexual abuse. The suit alleges Chavez raped and assaulted her in the 1970s and that the nonprofits concealed evidence of harassment and assaults. The Cesar Chavez Foundation said it is reviewing the complaint with legal counsel.
