Small plane carrying four Florida family members crashes off the Bahamas coast

A PA-34 Piper carrying 80-year-old pilot Mario Lamar, his wife Lili Lamar, 79, and their grandchildren Sofia Sosa, 28, and Christian Sosa, 22, lost contact with air traffic control on September 7, 2026, approximately 13 miles west of Andros Island, Bahamas, while flying from Great Harbour Cay to the Miami area. A multi-agency search involving the U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Bahamas Defence Force was launched. By September 8, all four family members were confirmed dead, with relatives locating the bodies during the search.
