Philippine lawmaker Martin Romualdez charged with corruption in flood control projects
Former Philippine House Speaker Martin Romualdez, a cousin of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., was charged with plunder for allegedly pocketing millions of dollars in kickbacks from flood control projects. The Ombudsman's office filed charges totaling 7.4 billion pesos ($118 million) at the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan. Romualdez was arrested at a hospital where he was being treated and is seeking hospital detention.
