WFP halves West Bank food assistance due to funding shortages and warns of possible Gaza cuts
The UN World Food Programme announced it is reducing food assistance in the West Bank from 400,000 to 200,000 people beginning September 2026 due to severe funding shortages. WFP warned of additional unavoidable cuts in Gaza, where it supports 1.5 million people, unless it secures an additional $386 million over six months. The agency cited increased violence, displacement, and economic deterioration in the West Bank, where food needs have more than doubled since 2023.
