Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee proposed renaming Nashville International Airport after Dolly Parton, who died of cancer on August 25, 2026, at age 80. The Metro Nashville Airport Authority will consider the proposal and its naming policy at a September 17, 2026 meeting. An online petition supporting the rename has gathered over 150,000 signatures.
