On August 28, 2026, The Hague District Court sentenced a 66-year-old Rwandan-born Dutch national identified as Eugene N. to life imprisonment for war crimes and genocide committed during the 1994 Rwanda genocide. The court found he participated in attacks on Tutsi communities in Mbazi, southern Rwanda, and threw a grenade into a crowd of approximately 3,000 Tutsis sheltering in a football stadium. He was convicted of war crimes and genocide but acquitted of incitement to genocide.
