Syria processes first international card payments after removal from U.S. State Sponsors of Terrorism list
Visa and Mastercard processed their first international card payments in Syria in over a decade, days after the United States removed Syria from its State Sponsors of Terrorism list. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa purchased coffee with a Visa card at a Damascus cafe alongside Central Bank governor Safwat Raslan. The transactions were carried out in cooperation with Lebanon's Fransabank, Qatar National Bank Group, and local payments company Paymera.
