AMCHA Initiative report links campus genocide accusations against Israel to preexisting BDS activism
The AMCHA Initiative released a report analyzing 278 recordings of academic events at 51 US campuses during the 2024-2025 academic year. The study found that events featuring speakers with pre-October 7 BDS support were roughly 40 times more likely to include genocide accusations against Israel, with 85% of such events containing the accusation compared to 2% of events without BDS-supporting speakers. The report argues that genocide accusations function as a form of anti-normalization within the BDS movement and that academic sponsorship lends political advocacy undue institutional authority.
