UK Prime Minister Burnham prepares ban on trade with Israeli West Bank settlements
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham is expected to announce a ban on trade in goods and services linked to Israeli West Bank settlements in the coming weeks, following Israel's issuance of tenders for the E1 settlement project. Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband told the Commons the government would set out a comprehensive set of measures and seek to stop British companies from financing or constructing settlements. Labour Friends of Israel has warned the ban would be a de facto boycott of all of Israel, while Israel's foreign minister Gideon Sa'ar threatened retaliation if Britain acts against Israel.
