Federal judge temporarily blocks Ohio proof-of-citizenship requirement for voter registration

U.S. District Judge Solomon Oliver Jr. issued a preliminary injunction blocking Ohio from requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote at motor vehicle bureaus. The judge ruled the requirement likely conflicts with the National Voter Registration Act. Secretary of State Frank LaRose said he would immediately appeal.
