SpaceX unveiled plans to build a $100 billion spaceport called Starbase Louisiana on 125,000 acres in Vermilion Parish, with construction starting by the end of 2027 and first launch targeted for 2029. The site would support thousands of Starship launches per year and create over 3,000 jobs. The announcement was made at an event with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell.
