Wisconsin prosecutor declines to file election bribery charges against Elon Musk

La Crosse County District Attorney Tim Gruenke announced he would not file election bribery charges against Elon Musk for promising $1 million checks to voters during the 2025 Wisconsin Supreme Court election. Gruenke concluded no jury would convict Musk because nobody was paid for voting and Musk corrected his initial social media post. The Wisconsin Elections Commission had referred complaints alleging Musk likely broke state law.
