US consumer confidence falls to lowest level in seven months in August

The Conference Board's consumer confidence index declined to 89.4 in August from 90.2 in July, the lowest reading in seven months. The decline was driven by elevated gasoline prices linked to the ongoing conflict in Iran and a worsening outlook for the labor market and inflation. July PCE inflation data is scheduled for release on Wednesday.
