Australia's ARIA bans wholly AI-generated tracks from official music charts
The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) announced new rules banning wholly AI-generated tracks from its official music charts and ARIA Awards, effective the week of August 31, 2026. Tracks using AI in a supporting role remain eligible if they are substantially human-made. The decision follows controversy over a DJ Josh Fawaz cover of Madonna's "Like a Prayer" that used AI-generated vocals and drums and topped Australian charts.
