The United States proposed a UN Security Council resolution to expand the arms embargo on Sudan to cover the entire country and all parties operating there. Massad Boulos, President Trump's senior adviser for Arab and African affairs, told the council that external military support to both Sudan's army and the Rapid Support Forces is prolonging the conflict. Sudan's military chief Gen. Abdel-Fattah Burhan said new sanctions would not deter his forces from continuing the war.
