On August 23, 2026, an estimated 150 armed gang members attacked the community of Kenscoff near Port-au-Prince, Haiti, killing at least 47 people and kidnapping more than 50. The UN reported that 22 victims were executed in a church courtyard. Six children and seven women were later released following intervention by community leaders and UNICEF. The attack prompted an emergency UN Security Council meeting and renewed calls for deployment of the UN-backed Gang Suppression Force.
