On August 23, 2026, U.S. Southern Command struck a vessel in the Eastern Pacific, killing two people. On August 26, 2026, a second strike targeted a vessel in the Caribbean, killing four. These were the first strikes in over two months in a campaign that began in September 2025 and has now killed at least 227 people across 68 strikes. The Pentagon has not publicly released evidence that targeted vessels were carrying drugs.
