Father reprimanded by police for leaving 7-year-old son alone on Mount Fuji to continue hike

A 48-year-old man from Nagoya left his seven-year-old son at the sixth station of Mount Fuji's Fujinomiya trail after the boy said he was tired, then continued climbing toward the summit with his older son. Mountain hut staff found the child alone and alerted police, who took the boy into protective custody. Police reprimanded the father when he returned and warned him he could face criminal liability.
