Turkey requests Interpol red notice for Netanyahu over Gaza flotilla interception
Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek announced on August 21, 2026 that Turkey had requested Interpol issue red notices for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and another Israeli, Afek Moskovitch, on charges including genocide, crimes against humanity, and torture. The charges stem from Israel's interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters in May 2026, which carried approximately 430 activists attempting to deliver aid to Gaza. Netanyahu's office dismissed the move as Erdogan's intimidation attempt and called Erdogan an 'antisemitic dictator.'
