Record-breaking heat dome spreads eastward across the United States in March 2024
A massive heat dome that shattered March temperature records in 14 states is moving eastward from the Southwest and may become one of the most expansive heat waves in American history. The heat wave broke the record for the hottest March day in the continental US when four locations hit 112 degrees Fahrenheit on Friday. Meteorologists expect the heat to continue through early April, with one-quarter to one-third of the continental US potentially setting March temperature records.
