Northrop Grumman launches MRV robot spacecraft to attach fuel jetpacks to aging satellites

A Northrop Grumman robotic vehicle called MRV launched aboard a SpaceX rocket on July 15, 2026, carrying three washing-machine-sized jetpacks to extend the operational life of communication satellites in geosynchronous orbit 22,300 miles above Earth. The mission will serve satellites operated by SES of Luxembourg and Optus of Australia. It is the second satellite-servicing mission launched in July 2026, following Katalyst Space Technologies' Link spacecraft that launched July 3 to boost NASA's Swift Observatory.
