Iran asks Houthis to prepare to close Red Sea oil route if US strikes Iranian power infrastructure.

Three sources told Reuters that Iran has asked Yemen's Houthi rebels to stand ready to close the Red Sea oil route if the United States strikes Iranian power infrastructure. A source close to the Houthis said the group has completed preparations to attack shipping near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and is awaiting orders. The threat comes as the Strait of Hormuz remains shut following the outbreak of conflict between Iran and the US in February 2026.
