Carl McDaniel (also identified as Carl Isom-McDaniel), 65, was attacked by a bull bison on Friday evening, July 11, 2026, at Bridge Bay Campground in Yellowstone National Park while walking with his 13-year-old grandson. The bison charged and tossed him into the air, resulting in a broken femur in four places near his hip; he underwent surgery and was recovering. Photographer Mike MacLeod captured the incident on video and intervened to scare off the bison.
