A Tesla Model 3 driven by Michael Butler crashed into a residence in Katy, Texas, on the evening of June 19, 2026, killing 76-year-old Martha Avila who was inside the home. Butler told the Harris County Sheriff's Office that the vehicle was operating on Autopilot at the time of the crash. The Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident, and no charges have been filed as of June 22, 2026.
