Eight architectural and historical preservationist groups filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Monday seeking to halt Trump's plans to close and renovate the Kennedy Center for two years starting July 4. The plaintiffs argue the approval process bypassed required federal historic preservation laws and congressional authorization. The Kennedy Center board unanimously approved the renovation plans last week, which Trump says will cost more than $200 million.
