Emmanuel Gregoire wins Paris mayoral election in France's municipal runoff votes
Socialist Emmanuel Gregoire won the Paris mayoral race with an estimated 51-53% of the vote, defeating conservative rival Rachida Dati in Sunday's municipal election runoff. The victory maintains left-wing control of Paris after 25 years, with Gregoire heading a coalition uniting Socialists, Greens, and Communists. In Marseille, Socialist mayor Benoit Payan was also re-elected, while former prime minister Edouard Philippe won re-election as mayor of Le Havre.
