Vincent Munster and Claude Kwe, scientists at Rocky Mountain Laboratories, were charged with smuggling vials of deactivated mpox virus into the US from the Republic of Congo. They were stopped at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in January and allegedly lied to investigators about carrying biological materials.
