Former Interior Secretary Deb Haaland won the Democratic nomination for governor of New Mexico on Tuesday, defeating Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman. Haaland, who previously served in Congress and as a Cabinet secretary under President Joe Biden, is positioned to become the first Native American woman elected governor in the United States.
