Colombian presidential election heads to runoff between de la Espriella and Cepeda.
Right-wing outsider Abelardo de la Espriella won approximately 44% of the vote in Colombia's first-round presidential election on May 31, 2026, followed by left-wing senator Iván Cepeda with approximately 41%. Since no candidate exceeded the 50% threshold required to win outright, a runoff election is scheduled for June 21, 2026. Outgoing President Gustavo Petro's ally Cepeda and Petro himself questioned the preliminary results without providing evidence.
