The U.S. military has conducted at least 59 strikes on boats in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean since September 2024, killing at least 205 people. The Trump administration designated drug cartels as terrorist organizations and declared the U.S. is in an "armed conflict" with them. Southern Command has not provided public evidence that the targeted vessels were involved in drug trafficking.
